Painting Toy Box with a Flower Fairy Theme

Here is a rough brush sketch.
For the piece to work in both 2D and the three dimensional worlds, the sketch maps it out for me.
The brush colour is a watery brown/ black.
Satin latex varnish goes on the top of the drawing so it retains it's water colour feel.
Working in monotone in the beginning helps me work out the graphic design.
Then I will start with the light washes of colour and put the same latex varnish between coats.
